Professor of Animation has film featured on BBC
Professor of Animation Suzie Hanna, who teaches on NUA’s MA Moving Image and Sound, has had a new film featured on the BBC’s website.
The film, Hidden meanings in music hall lyrics, is a collaboration with Dr Jude Cowan Montague, and inspired by the BBC Ideas’ philosophy of education as well as entertainment.
Born from a love of music hall songs and their social history, the film aims to investigate what ‘life hacks’ might be present in the lyrics of the songs.
Suzie and Jude wrote the script together, with Jude painting the backgrounds and audiences while Suzie animated, composited and edited the film.
The film has had over 24,000 views in it’s first three days on the BBC’s website. Suzie comments, “We have had very positive responses on twitter and social media, it seems to cheer people up a lot at this moment, maybe as it celebrates community spirit.”
