The AOP Student Awards are a celebration of the best in photography amongst students, helping to provide a step up to the professional arena. By supporting new emerging talent, the Awards are an opportunity to get a first look at the potential stars of tomorrow.

Christopher’s striking image was selected for the ‘People’ category, curated by acclaimed photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten. He says of his work, “This image is part of an ongoing project which explores the life of a fictional character, the air hostess. Shot on location at the Barbican centre in late 2019, the strong use of line both horizontal and vertical give the image a somewhat claustrophobic feel.”

Nancy’s image of a collection of objects won Gold in the ‘Things’ category, curated by Creative Director Lee Smith. She comments on her winning image: “I enjoy experimenting with placement, using assemblage to lend resonance to the discarded and forgotten. Chosen for their ‘thing power’, the interplay of dead mouse, lost glove and newspaper fragment symbolise impermanence as well as illustrating vibrant forces retained in insignificant objects.”
