Senior Lecturer: Acting

This post will contribute to the organisation and delivery of the curriculum for BA (Hons) Acting and will have a role in maintaining an excellent student experience. The role involves planning, teaching, delivery and assessment of a range of training and theory-based units. As part of the Acting team, you might also be asked to direct student projects and offer acting training/theory sessions in your area of expertise. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the academic team and a diverse student body across the three years of the course. The role is available for six months from September 2024 to February 2025 in the first instance.

The successful candidate will be an experienced educator with specialist knowledge of actor training, and show strong engagement in contemporary performance on stage, screen and/or in digital media. Being able to teach performance theory alongside practice is preferable, as is experience in directing plays, scene study and monologue work. Through on-going research, knowledge exchange and professional practice, the post-holder will ensure currency and relevance of the subject area and contribute to the external profile of the University.

You will be a champion for promoting diversity and equality in the performance industries. You will have the ability to be an engaging, supportive and inclusive teacher who can deliver innovative and engaging on-campus and digital teaching sessions.

You will be able to demonstrate currency in your industry experience and/or research practice. You will be a strong team player able to demonstrate excellent skills in team-working, organisation and management. The role requires a collaborative and pro-active approach to working with the course team and a range of stakeholders and delivering outcomes.

Salary: £45,585 to £54,395 per annum
