Senior Technician – Games Development
At Norwich, we champion transdisciplinary creativity, blending traditional techniques with digital innovation and emerging technologies. Our high-quality workshops and technical resources provide students with the tools to explore both material and digital thinking, helping them achieve their creative ambitions.
We are seeking a passionate Games Development Specialist to join our award-winning games community. This senior technical position is perfect for someone who can inspire students to harness the power of code, game engines, and development pipelines, and who brings strong technical skills in programming, games design and development, and software development tailored to interactive entertainment.
In this role, you will support the Technical Services Manager with the smooth operation of our dedicated games labs and specialist technical facilities. Working closely with the Games teaching team, you will design and deliver hands-on technical workshops focused on games development in Unreal Engine which will range from introductory sessions for new students to things like advanced workshops exploring game mechanics, physics, and AI.
As a Senior Technician, you will work closely with students as they develop original game projects. You will draw on your expertise in C++, C#, and visual scripting, supporting students as they create cutting-edge games using industry-standard engines such as Unreal Engine (both Blue Prints and C++ programming in Unreal Engine), Godot, and Unity.
We are looking for an individual who actively encourages experimentation and creative risk-taking in games development, helping students apply the latest technologies to prototype and deliver innovative gameplay experiences for a variety of audiences. Your advanced programming skills and understanding of games production will be crucial in supporting students to create exceptional, engaging games.
