Body Matters AHRA International Conference

Thursday 21 November – Saturday 23 November 2024

The 21st Architectural Humanities Research Association International Conference is taking place at Norwich this November, with the theme ‘Body Matters’.

Body Matters aims to investigate notions of Body in contemporary architectural discourses. Always a fundamental in architecture, the body needs to be reconsidered on its own terms, as a creative, material and philosophical concern.

The themes of this conference bring into sharp focus ‘our forgotten relation to the encompassing earth’ (Abram), to discuss a renewed environmental sensitivity that spans across science, politics, nature and culture. This will be explored through presentations of papers, keynote talks, exhibitions and performances.

Three day registration includes:

  • Refreshments, lunches and drinks reception
  • Digital book of abstracts
  • One digital copy of the book Situated Ecologies of Care (edited by Professor Oren Lieberman and Alessandro Zambelli, Routledge 2024), part of the AHRA conference series Critiques published by Routledge
