Arieh Frosh & Ed Compson

Since 2020 the pair have been working on an ongoing series of artworks, workshops, research experiments that question how we think about machines and ecology, and how these ways of thinking affect imagination. So far, these have looked at the effect of wind energy discourse on the subject; the relationship between gathered data and sound; and how we relate to the medically imaged body. Between them, Arieh and Ed have exhibited at sites including Cypher BILLBOARD, London; CCA, Glasgow; NiMAC, Cyprus; CLC Gallery Venture, Beijing.

Arieh and Ed’s research considers how the meeting of contemporary offshore wind turbines with the geological history of Doggerland could be a tool to creatively explore the historical, cultural, and political narratives surrounding wind energy and oceanic thinking. The approach to this is through a responsive workshop practice, site visits, connections with archaeologists, filming, collaborative making and a varied technological practice.
