Robin Fuller

Robin Fuller is a Senior Lecturer on Animation & Visual Effects at Norwich University of the Arts. He is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in storytelling via moving image, interactive and immersive media.

Robin comes from a background of industry practice, working as a freelance director and animator in the animation and VFX industry before moving into immersive technology as a creative director. Robin is also an advocate of maintaining wellbeing alongside creativity and regularly leads meditation workshops to help others facilitate their own practice.

My creative practice has always been highly multidisciplinary, starting from a base of animation skills and branching into diverse practices, while always maintaining a core of storytelling and communication between the artwork and audience. My industry practice as a director has spanned music videos, commercials, stage theatre, games and live visuals before branching into creative technology. Working with immersive and creative media I have sought to combine skills and methodologies from film and animation with creative technology to create narrative rich immersive experiences in platforms such as VR, AR and in interactive installations.

My current research continues this theme of interdisciplinarity in an ongoing collaborative exploration of the poems of Ted Hughes in the collection Crow. So far, this exploration has included performance capture, dance, drawing, animation and the creation of an interactive installation titled “The First Lesson”.

I am constantly curious to learn and to try new things and excited about the possibilities of combining ideas, techniques and sensibilities from different practices.

Industry Practice

As creative director for Infinite Form, I led a team of creative technologists to create interactive and immersive media for a wide range of clients including Mazda, Visa, Berry Global, Games Workshop, Porsche, ARM, Google and Microsoft.
