Kathryn Easthope
Kat has lectured in both fashion communication and graphic design and now teaches on NUA’s Fashion Communication and Promotion course. From a background in fashion branding and editorial design, Kat’s approach to teaching is focused on learning through application, encouraging students to test, create and experiment in order to gain confidence and knowledge about the industry. Kat believes that a focus on concept and ideas delivery is crucial to the industry – and this approach is encouraged through her teaching.
I worked in fashion media, including Another Man and Dazed & Confused, after graduating with a first class degree in Graphic Arts. Following my interest in generating conceptual ideas, I then pursued a career in luxury fashion branding and advertising, creating 360 campaigns for both boutique luxury brands and international fashion houses. This desire to get under the skin of a brand and learn about its mechanics led me to in-house art direction. Narrative and storytelling are what drives my creativity. Imagery is a powerful medium and the ability to tell stories and capture emotions is where my personal creative practice lies.
