What else do I need to apply?

Apart from submitting your application form, you will also need to submit the following:

1. Portfolio:

Most of our courses require you to submit a portfolio, which you can send to us digitally, if your course requires one. Your portfolio should demonstrate your technical skills, ability to generate ideas, and your passion for the subject area.

View Our Portfolio Advice

*A portfolio is not required for the following courses:

  • BA (Hons) Fashion Communication and Promotion
  • BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing and Business
  • BSc (Hons) Games Development
  • BSc(Hons) Creative Technology
  • BA (Hons) Acting – Requires an online audition
  • BSc (Hons) Creative Computing

2. Academic / Educational Qualification:

You can find our range of academic entry requirements by country by visiting the page below:

3. English Language Proficiency Proof:

The UKVI requires all students applying for a Student Visa to demonstrate that their English Language proficiency is at a level equivalent to CEFR level B2 or above. This is equivalent to an IELTS 6.0 overall with a 5.5 in each skill. We accept a range of alternative tests and qualifications that are listed below:

4. Reference:

We require one educational reference, or where you have been working prior to applying to study with us, a professional reference that can vouch for you. The referee needs to indicate how long and in what capacity they have known you, as well as provide us their candid opinion of you and your suitability to undertake your proposed course of study.

If submitting a reference letter, the reference must be on the organisation’s official letterhead, and bearing the stamp of the organisation and signature and job title of the referee. Alternatively, you can ask your referee to email their reference directly to our International Admissions Officer at ioadmissions@norwichuni.ac.uk. Please note, we do not accept references forwarded by the applicant if they are not on the official letterhead.

When do I apply?

We recommend that international applicants apply as soon as possible as awards are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis. Applying early will also gives you time to fully prepare for your visa application and sort out your accommodation in Norwich. We accept applications until the end of August of the year of entry.

What happens after I apply?

You can usually expect to hear from us within 15 working days of submitting a completed application (ie, after submitting your application form and portfolio). Sometimes, our academics may need to meet with you to discuss your work or direction of study, in which case, we will reach out to arrange an interview session. If this is not required, we will directly make you an offer of study.

You will receive either an unconditional or conditional offer.

An unconditional offer means you have met all our entry requirements. This is usually for students who have completed their prior level of study and hold their final transcripts or certificates.

A conditional offer will outline which conditions you need to meet in order to fully secure a place with us. We will usually hold your place until you are able to meet the required conditions within the deadlines set by the University.

If we are your top institution of choice to study at, you can choose to go firm with us. Your second institution of choice becomes your insurance choice. If you have applied via UCAS, there are set dates by which you need to respond to your choices using UCAS Track. If you apply directly, the deadline by which you need to email your confirmation to us will be outlined in your offer letter.

If you choose not to accept your offer or accept an offer from another university, you should formally decline our offer on the UCAS website or by emailing us at ioadmissions@norwichuni.ac.uk.

Once you have firmly accepted your offer, you will be eligible to apply for housing and start the process of applying for your CAS and visa. We will send you guidance and more information at this stage, as well as invite you for webinars to help prepare you for your move to the UK.
