Glen Gair

Glen is the newest member of the university’s photography technician team, an award-winning film director and a published photographer.

His work varies from focussing on socio-economic and environmental issues to creating satirical based projects. His work has been screened around the world and published in well-known media outlets such as The Guardian and the Independent.

Originally from Wales, I began my media-based journey by working in the TV industry on a popular Channel 4 show before a brief stint at Norwich’s own Mustard TV. Seeking a little more creative control in my career, I then transitioned into freelancing as a filmmaker and photographer, eventually re-entering education and attending the Northern Film School (Hollywood Reporter named the school as one of the “5 film schools to watch”), graduating with a master’s degree in Filmmaking. My graduation short went on to be BAFTA Wales qualifying and was screened internationally, winning Best Short Film and Best Student Short at multiple festivals. Since then, I’ve made several festival winning shorts, music videos and documentaries, one of which was based on the housing crisis in Wales which was screened at the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) as part of a cross-committee debate around changing housing policies and laws in Wales.
My photographic collaborations have included working with local and national campaign groups such as Extinction Rebellion, with musicians and artists, all whilst producing self-driven projects focusing on highlighting societal issues. This work has been featured in numerous independent and mainstream publications. I also have a background in teaching having previously been a media course leader and film and photography lecturer at a Norwich based college.
