Cathy Armor

Independent member who joined Council in 2019. Former Director of People at Cambridge University Press. Chair of Council, Chair of Nominations Committee and a member of the Finance and Resources and Remuneration Committees.

James Burkill

Professional staff member who joined the Council in 2024. Senior Technician (3D Fabrication Workshop). Member of the People Committee.

Janet Chase

Student member, joins the Council as an ex-officio member and current student at the University, bringing a valuable student perspective to the Board’s work.

Daniel Dwyer

On taking-up the role of President of the Students’ Union (Education and Representation), Daniel joined the Council on 1 August 2024. Ex-officio member of the Council and graduate of the University. Member of the People Committee.

Alex Ferguson

Independent member, who joined the Council in 2019. Professional accountant. Finance Director for a property services company, previously holding a variety of roles with Aviva plc. Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee and Chair of the Investment Sub-Committee.

Julie Fryatt

Recently retired Chief People Officer at the University of Brighton. She brings significant expertise in people and culture within higher education, including organisational change, equality, diversity and inclusion, and senior leadership.

Professor Charles ffrench-Constant

Emeritus Professor at the University of East Anglia and former Pro Vice-Chancellor. He contributes extensive higher education leadership experience, with expertise spanning strategic development, international partnerships and sector-wide challenges

Dr Chris Gribble

Chief Executive of The Forum Trust. He joins the Council with extensive leadership experience across creative and cultural organisations. He brings strong insight into the regional business and cultural landscape, alongside expertise in placemaking and cross-sector collaboration.

Perry Hamilton

Head of HR and EDI at Norwich City Football Club. He offers specialist knowledge in people management, equality, diversity and inclusion, and organisational culture, alongside experience in wellbeing and campaign development.

Gary Horne

Deputy Chief Executive at Colchester Institute and a qualified accountant. He brings strong financial and operational expertise, with experience in resource management, estates and professional services within the further education sector.

Colin Lawrence

Independent member who joined the Council in October 2021. Chief Executive of MediCinema. Previously held senior positions with the National Theatre and the BBC. Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

Clarie Middleton

Co-opted member who joined the Council in 2023. Former Principal of Rose Bruford College. Previously Chief Executive of Hackney Empire. Member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Kemet Pink

Co-opted member who joined the Council in October 2021. Works in the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), following periods with UK Research and Innovation and the Cabinet Office. Member of the People Committee.

Rob Tiffen

Independent member who joined Council in 2024. Partner at Nicholsons Solicitors LLP and previously Legal Director of Birketts LLP. Member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Liam Wells

Academic staff member who joined the Council in 2022. Course Leader for Film and Moving Image Production. Member of the Nominations Committee.

Toby Wilson

Independent member who joined the Council in 2020. Audit Partner with Lovewell Blake LLP. Chair of Audit and Risk Committee.
