Gabriela Jimenez
Senior Lecturer
Architecture and Interior Design
Gabriela is a Ph.D. candidate at the Architectural Association in London. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Bartlett, University College London, and completed her initial architectural training at the University of Chile.
Gabriela’s research investigates intersections between psychoanalytic theory and architecture, with a focus on the psychological and symbolic dimensions of space. Through this lens, she explores how latent narratives embedded in the built environment shape subjective experiences and enable creative education.
Currently, Gabriela serves as a Senior Lecturer in Interior Design and is the Cultural Context coordinator for the BA Interior Design course. She has a strong background in international and interdisciplinary teaching, with experience spanning architectural history, theory, and studio practice, as well as key administrative and curricular development roles.
Her academic career is broad and multifaceted, encompassing university-level teaching, workshops, and voluntary educational initiatives—including programs for women’s prisons and workshops for children. In addition, Gabriela maintains an independent creative practice that combines printmaking, analogue photography, embroidery, and literary work, further enriching her pedagogical and scholarly approach.
