Ben Stopher has been Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Norwich University of the Arts since April 2024 and will take up the role of Vice-Chancellor in November 2025. He brings significant experience in academic leadership, a clear strategic vision, and a deep commitment to creative education.
Ben is an academic and designer with extensive experience as a practitioner and creative consultant in digital design and computational practice. He began his academic career at the University for the Creative Arts and went on to hold a series of key strategic roles at the Royal College of Art and University of the Arts London (UAL).
Before joining Norwich, Ben was Dean of the Creative Computing Institute at UAL, where he led the establishment of the University’s first dedicated institute for computing and creative technologies. Over six years, he developed an ambitious portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes, while cultivating a dynamic culture of interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange.
His leadership is defined by innovation, collaboration, and a future-facing approach to creative practice. As Vice-Chancellor, Ben will guide Norwich University of the Arts into its next chapter – building on strong foundations and shaping a bold new strategic vision for the institution.
