Professor Simon Willmoth

Simon is Director of Research Management in our Research Department.

Simon has many years’ experience as an academic and director of research in art schools and universities in England, Scotland and the USA. Simon is an art historian and curator, he has led a number of research projects, was Chair of the EASTinternational Steering Committee and external member of Tate Gallery’s Doctoral Training Board. His research and publications have informed exhibitions, including at The Whitechapel Gallery, Staatsgalerie (Stuttgart), Palzzo Reale (Milan), LaM (Lille), Babylon Gallery (Ely), Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery. His current research includes work on arts and health projects and collaborative partnerships in contemporary art.​

Simon directs University research projects with external organisations, including the Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and Hospital Rooms, Collusion (Cambridge) and is a founding partner of the Norfolk and Waveney Arts and Health Collaborative.

Professor Willmoth also leads the University’s Research Degrees programme, currently has three doctoral students and has supervised to completion and examined a number of PhDs.
