• An Introduction to Visual Programming
Visual programming has developed hand-in-hand with the development of graphical user interfaces for computers since the 1970’s. In recent years, it has risen in popularity in the creative industries, particularly for visual creatives who perhaps feel more comfortable with the graphical nature of visual programming vs. text-based traditional computer programming.
Find out about the exciting possibilities offered by this fast developing area of creative computing via a hands on workshop designed to take you from absolute beginner to visual programming warrior in 2 hours!
This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Creative Computing, Computer Science, Games Development and Creative Technology and Robotics.
• Design Thinking – Unlocking Creativity Through Innovative Problem Solving
Ready to supercharge your creative teaching? Join us for an interactive dive into Design Thinking, where we’ll explore powerful techniques for innovative problem solving and idea generation.
Through hands-on activities, you’ll discover how to inspire your students and bring fresh perspectives into your classroom.
We’ll wrap things up with an exciting challenge: create your own unique drinks brand using the very techniques you’ve learned. Get ready to unlock your creativity and equip yourself with tools that’ll transform your approach to design education!
This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Graphic Design, Graphic Communication, Design for Publishing and Illustration.
• Digital Painting: An Introduction
An introduction to digital painting skills. We will give an introduction to digital drawing and painting, connecting traditional methods to digital techniques and setting exercises to habitually practice.
These skills are appropriate to all artists, with a focus on how this is utilised within the Animation, Visual Effects, Illustration and Games specialisms.
• Grad Fest Tour
Tour the Grad Fest 2025 exhibition to see the amazing work of the 2024 Norwich University of the Arts graduating cohort.
• Introduction to Modular Synthesis
Get hands on with some of the fundamental building blocks of audio synthesis using both hardware modular synthesisers and VCV Rack – a free modular synthesiser emulator.
Create your own musical and non-musical sounds and build your own bespoke electronic instruments.
This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Electronic Music and Sound Production and Film and Moving Image Production.
• Pattern for Print and Form
A workshop exploring the role of motifs in printed textiles considering rhythm and composition, repeat tile possibilities and block designs, using rubber stamp making.
This will support you to design sessions for pattern development with low tech methods that can be taken into digital design work.
This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Textile Design and Fashion.
• Portrait Play
Explore the expressive potential of portraiture in this dynamic 2-hour mixed media workshop. Using printed facial imagery as a foundation, participants will experiment with layering techniques that combine paint, print, and other media to create striking monochrome portraits.
This hands-on session encourages playful creativity and practical ideas that can be adapted for the classroom, no matter your experience level. Come away with fresh inspiration and accessible techniques to engage your students in portrait-based projects.
This workshop is particularly related to our subject area of Fine Art.
• Psychology Theme Park: Understanding Psychology in Our World
Step into the world of psychology like never before! This interactive session transforms everyday experiences into a journey through the fascinating themes of the human mind and behaviour.
Explore crowds, social influence and consumer behaviour through the Biological Rollercoaster and the Haunted House of Perception!
This workshop is particularly related to our subject area of Psychology.
•Teacher as Performer
Unlock the power of performance to transform your teaching! In this playful 2-hour workshop, actor, theatre maker, and lecturer in Acting & Performance, Jérémie Cyr-Cooke, will guide you through playful exercises that draws on acting techniques designed to build confidence, enhance presence, and create a playful, engaging environment for your classroom.
Through simple exercises, we will look at how the voice and body, together with storytelling, come together to discover new ways to connect with students, manage energy in the room and bring a sense of creativity and spontaneity to your teaching practice. No acting experience needed – just an openness, a readiness to play and explore.
This workshop is relevant across a number of our different subject areas including Acting and Film and Moving Image Production.
