Bank Plain

Norwich University of the Arts’ acquisition of 20 Bank Plain has provided the opportunity to establish a dedicated research hub, providing a pioneering environment for thinking, making, showing, and discussing critical creativity under one roof.

On the ground floor, the PhD studio, staff studio and East Gallery Fellows studio support practice-based research with space to create experimental new work. The research seminar room on the first floor offers a flexible space for hosting workshops, presentations, and symposia. Located on the second floor are the Institute for Creative Technologies and the Institute for Sustainable Worlds, both dedicated to fostering active engagement with transdisciplinary research and innovation.

In the Banking Hall we are we are creating a new public space and gallery as part of the university’s broader placemaking project. We are currently working on the development phase of this project, through the initiation of artistic and curatorial projects and commissions which will build audience, partner, and stakeholder engagement, as we design and create this important public space.
