Please read the information below regarding distance selling, data sharing and rental payments and then tick the confirmation check box on the application form to show your agreement. You will not be able to submit your application without doing so.

For Students Living in Beechcroft, Rochester Court and Duke Street Riverside

The name of the supplier of the accommodation is Norwich University of the Arts. If you have any queries you should contact The Accommodation Team in the first instance on email accommodation@norwichuni.ac.uk

The services we provide are detailed in this Portal and in the example Licence Agreements provided.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 there is no ‘cooling off’ period. The Licence Agreement will be deemed to be in force upon receipt of the signed Licence Agreement. The Resident Student does not have the right to cancel the contract except as outlined below.

  1. If the Resident Student does not meet the requirements of a conditional offer and the University withdraws the offer of a place on a course at the University, the Licence Agreement will be cancelled.  The Resident Student will be released from all obligations under the Licence Agreement.
  2. If the Resident Student decides not to take up a confirmed place on a course, the Resident Student may apply to cancel the Licence Agreement by writing to the University at the address given on the first page of the Licence Agreement, or by emailing accommodation@norwichuni.ac.uk and confirming the decision not to take up the confirmed place.
    • If the written cancellation request is received before 13 September 2025 the University will agree to cancel the Licence Agreement.
    • If the written cancellation request is received after 13 September 2025, rent will be charged from 13 September 2025 to the day notice is received.
  3. If the Resident Student takes up their place on the course, but prior to 13 September 2025 decides not to take up their place in Residential Accommodation, the University must be informed in writing at the address given on the first page of the Licence Agreement, or by emailing accommodation@norwichuni.ac.uk. The Resident Student will be liable for payment of the rent for the period from the start of the Licence Agreement until the room can be re-let to another student.  After 13 September 2025 the licence can no longer be cancelled in this way by a student currently enrolled on a course.

For Students Living in All Saints Green

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, the Landlord is required to provide the following information if the Landlord or the Agent has not met the Tenant before entering into the Tenancy Agreement.

The name of the supplier of the accommodation is Derwent Facilities Management Limited, (Company No. 07264667) No. 1 Centro Place, Pride Park, Derby DE24 8RF.

The Tenant has the right to cancel the Tenancy Agreement by giving written (by e-mail, fax or post) notice to the Landlord within 7 working days, beginning on the day after the date the contract becomes binding.  The date the Tenancy Agreement contract becomes binding is the date the Landlord confirms the Tenancy Agreement has been completed by sending an email to that effect to the Tenant.

After this date the student will agree to pay for the entire tenancy agreement even if they leave the accommodation partway through the year for any reason. By signing your tenancy agreement for a room in All Saints Green you are agreeing to pay for the room for the entire duration of the contract. This will apply even if you terminate your studies or intermit (take a break from your studies, perhaps on the grounds of ill health) at any point during the contracted period.

The Tenant’s right to cancel does not apply once the Landlord has started to provide the Accommodation to the Tenant: after the first day of the Tenancy Period, it is too late to cancel and early terminations will be dealt with in accordance with clause 8 of the Tenancy Agreement.

There is no extra charge if the Tenant books their Accommodation by post or other means of distance communication.

The offer of Accommodation and the price remain valid until the expiry date stated in the Agent’s offer of Accommodation to the Tenant, but after that date the offer of Accommodation will automatically lapse if the Tenant has not accepted it and complied with the pre-conditions regarding payment and providing a guarantee.

For Students Referred to Crown Place

If we refer you to Collegiate for accommodation at Crown Place, you will be sent information regarding the terms and conditions of your tenancy agreement, cancellation policy and distance selling by them directly.

Any student signing a contract with Collegiate in Crown Place is agreeing to pay for the room for the entire duration of the contract. This will apply even if you terminate your studies or intermit (take a break from your studies, perhaps on the grounds of ill health) at any point during the contracted period.

Residents in Crown Place may have a small council tax bill to pay for the period between their contract starting and their enrolment date. This is not likely to exceed £50 as the period will only be a few weeks. Further information on this will be provided by Norwich City Council if tax is due.

Data Sharing

In order for us to be able to be able to fulfil our accommodation guarantee to you we may need to share your personal data with either Derwent Students or Collegiate. These are the companies that operate All Saints Green and Crown Place. We will need to share your details with them if you are offered a room in one of these buildings.

If you do not agree to your data being shared in this way, Norwich University of the Arts will not be able to allocate you a room in All Saints Green or Crown Place as the buildings are managed by Derwent Students and Collegiate.
