In conversation with: Rebecca Osborne, MA Illustration
Rebecca shares what life on our MA Illustration course is like and how she’s building on her career as a live illustrator.
-
I’m Rebecca Osborne and I’m studying on the MA Illustration course. In my working life, I’m a live illustrator. I attend events and draw live what I am hearing. I’ve had the pleasure of doing it here at the University.
Hi Rebecca! Can you introduce yourself and tell us more about your practice as a live illustrator?
-
I’ve really enjoyed coming back to do my postgraduate. It’s been so wonderful to indulge in all of the amazing workshops and resources at the University. I’ve learnt a lot and met some great friends.
We get lots of visiting lecturers and we are doing live projects with industry professionals, which has been incredible. One of the best bits is definitely all the technicians – they know their stuff.
What makes MA Illustration at Norwich unique?
-
What has been great is all of the cross-course opportunities. I’ve been able to have a go at embossing and debossing, etching, we’ve had a play with the VR headsets – drawing in virtual reality – and we’ve done some animation. It’s been an interesting and experimental time.
What has been the most valuable part of the course for your creative development?
-
If anyone is considering doing an MA, I would definitely recommend Norwich. It is such a lovely city, the University is great, the staff are incredible and the technicians are so helpful.
Why should someone choose Norwich University for their MA?
-
Being at Norwich and studying for my MA has helped with my future career plans. It’s given me a chance to indulge in more learning, which I think will inform my practice. Getting to learn all the new tech and the connections with industry will be beneficial for the future.
How has this course helped prepare you for what comes next?
