Clearing guidance for international students
Clearing is part of the application cycle for universities. It’s an opportunity for students to apply for undergraduate courses that still have spaces available to start in September.

Which courses can I apply to through Clearing as an international student?
Not all of our undergraduate courses are open during Clearing, so it’s important to check that the course you want to apply for is still accepting applications. Search our undergraduate courses
How do I apply through Clearing as an international student?
You can apply for any of our undergraduate courses:
- Online via the UCAS website
- Direct to Norwich University via an application form, available on request from international@norwichuni.ac.uk.
What are the entry requirements for international students?
International students are required to hold an English language qualification. Students should have a minimum IELTS exam score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
We also accept some alternative English language qualifications. See the full list of accepted English language qualifications.
Undergraduate academic requirements
Year 1 entry
For Year 1 entry we are looking for students with grades equivalent to the examples below.
Contact our International Team to check if we accept your grades or check the accepted qualifications for international students.

Year 0 entry
We offer an Integrated Foundation Year across all of our undergraduate courses. They have lower academic requirements to the typical three year degrees.

Portfolios and auditions
For the majority of our courses, you will need to submit a digital portfolio of creative work to complete your application. Our BA Acting course requires an online audition.
You can find portfolio and audition advice on each of our course pages. The International Office will be able to guide you through this process.
Who will I speak to about my Clearing application?
- If you contact us about a current application, you’ll speak to our Admissions Team.
- If you’re thinking about applying for one of our courses, you’ll speak with a member of our academic team. They’ll discuss your application with you in a short telephone interview.
