This is the first public event in a series of talks accompanying the exhibition, EASTinternational: Unpacking the Archive.
In this talk, critic Jonathan P. Watts will lead a conversation with former staff, artists, and selectors involved with EASTinternational, exploring the selection process for the annual exhibitions.
Speakers:
- Harold Offeh, artist, exhibited in 2000 selected by Keith Piper and Sebastian Lopez, Wysing Arts Centre Trustee.
- Catherine Butcher née Moseley, EAST administrator and Assistant Curator, 1999–2005, Norwich University of the Arts graduate.
- Martin Clark, Curatorial Trainee from the RCA in 2000, contributed to EAST Discourse in 2002, now Director of Camden Arts Centre.
- Marjorie Allthorpe-Guyton, selector in 1992, former Head of Visual Arts at Arts Council England.
- Anne-Marie Creamer, most-exhibited artist in EAST (with Rose Wylie): 1992 (the year Marjorie selected with Helen Chadwick), 1995 and 2001.
With a contribution from Paul Kuzemczak, EASTinternational designer.
