First-year student Lucy Bristow wins British Institute of Interior Design Student Drawing Competition 2022

The student drawing competition was launched to celebrate student drawing talent across the UK.

The competition, launched for the first time this year, awards prizes in two categories: digital and hand-drawn. Winners of each price take home £500.

A panel of established interior designers judges each category. Entrants are judged on their creativity and originality, ability to communicate a concept or design idea, and technical ability.

First-year BA (Hons) Interior Design student Lucy Bristow has won the hand-drawn category with her 3D visualisation of a concession store for beauty brand Aesop at Mandarina Duck.

The judging panel said the drawing “showed an extremely high level of creativity and technical skill balanced with a sophisticated commercial approach.”

Lecturer Lisa Thurlow said, “Many congratulations to Lucy for her win. Lucy produced a beautifully hand-drawn axonometric view of a concession.”
