Next week will see five leading figures – from the fields of design, fashion, games and the visual arts – awarded Honorary Professorships at Norwich University of the Arts.

Their achievements will be celebrated during the University’s graduation ceremonies, which are taking place at Carrow Road Football Stadium on 14 and 15 July.

An Honorary Professorship is a major accolade, awarded by the University in recognition of outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with its mission.

The five new honorary professors are:

Amrit and Rabindra Kaur Singh

Art and Culture

Amrit and Rabindra Kaur Singh, known professionally as The Singh Twins, are internationally acclaimed artists whose richly detailed and narrative-driven work blends traditional Indian miniature painting with contemporary themes and digital media.

Their art challenges colonial histories and Eurocentric narratives and has been exhibited in major institutions such as Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery and National Museums Scotland. Their recent work includes the widely praised Slaves of Fashion exhibition and a nomination to represent Britain at the 2024 Venice Biennale.

Dr Henestrosa, an internationally recognised curator and academic, is currently Head of the School of Fashion at LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore. She is best known for curating the landmark exhibition Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up at the V&A, which later toured internationally.

Dr Henestrosa’s curatorial practice and scholarly work explore fashion as a powerful tool for cultural storytelling, identity politics and global dialogue.
