Clearing 2025 is now open
Find out more about clearing or call our friendly Admissions Team on +44 (0) 1603 751 485.
Please read the information below regarding distance selling, data sharing and rental payments and then tick the confirmation check box on the application form to show your agreement. You will not be able to submit your application without doing so.
Also ensure that you have read the draft licence and tenancy agreements for the buildings. If you are allocated a room, you will be asked to agree to the terms contained in the agreement that is relevant to your room, and to sign the licence/tenancy agreement for your room.
The name of the supplier of the accommodation is Norwich University of the Arts. If you have any queries you should contact The Accommodation Team in the first instance on email accommodation@norwichuni.ac.uk
The services we provide are detailed in this Portal and in the example Licence Agreements provided.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 there is no ‘cooling off’ period. The Licence Agreement will be deemed to be in force upon receipt of the signed Licence Agreement. The Resident Student does not have the right to cancel the contract except as outlined below.
Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, the Landlord is required to provide the following information if the Landlord or the Agent has not met the Tenant before entering into the Tenancy Agreement.
The name of the supplier of the accommodation is Derwent Facilities Management Limited, (Company No. 07264667) No. 1 Centro Place, Pride Park, Derby DE24 8RF.
The Tenant has the right to cancel the Tenancy Agreement by giving written (by e-mail, fax or post) notice to the Landlord within 7 working days, beginning on the day after the date the contract becomes binding. The date the Tenancy Agreement contract becomes binding is the date the Landlord confirms the Tenancy Agreement has been completed by sending an email to that effect to the Tenant.
After this date the student will agree to pay for the entire tenancy agreement even if they leave the accommodation partway through the year for any reason. By signing your tenancy agreement for a room in All Saints Green you are agreeing to pay for the room for the entire duration of the contract. This will apply even if you terminate your studies or intermit (take a break from your studies, perhaps on the grounds of ill health) at any point during the contracted period.
The Tenant’s right to cancel does not apply once the Landlord has started to provide the Accommodation to the Tenant: after the first day of the Tenancy Period, it is too late to cancel and early terminations will be dealt with in accordance with clause 8 of the Tenancy Agreement.
There is no extra charge if the Tenant books their Accommodation by post or other means of distance communication.
The offer of Accommodation and the price remain valid until the expiry date stated in the Agent’s offer of Accommodation to the Tenant, but after that date the offer of Accommodation will automatically lapse if the Tenant has not accepted it and complied with the pre-conditions regarding payment and providing a guarantee.
If we refer you to Collegiate for accommodation at Crown Place, you will be sent information regarding the terms and conditions of your tenancy agreement, cancellation policy and distance selling by them directly.
Any student signing a contract with Collegiate in Crown Place is agreeing to pay for the room for the entire duration of the contract. This will apply even if you terminate your studies or intermit (take a break from your studies, perhaps on the grounds of ill health) at any point during the contracted period.
Residents in Crown Place may have a small council tax bill to pay for the period between their contract starting and their enrolment date. This is not likely to exceed £50 as the period will only be a few weeks. Further information on this will be provided by Norwich City Council if tax is due.
We do not take a deposit to secure a room in any of the Norwich University of the Arts Residences.
If damage is caused to the residence that you are attributable for that is above fair wear and tear you will be invoiced for this by your accommodation provider.
In Crown Place there is an advance payment of some of the first terms’ rent that needs to be paid before you move in. Full details will be sent on allocation of a room in these buildings.
Further information regarding payment of your rent instalments will be provided at a later date.
Your payment dates and schedule of payments will vary depending on your accommodation provider.
In Duke Street Riverside, Rochester Court and Beechcroft if rent is not received by the appropriate instalment dates the University reserves the right to levy a late payment fee. After 14 days of rent being due, late payment without an agreed extension will result in a charge of up to 3% above the Bank of England’s base rate for each day that the payment has been outstanding. This fee covers administration costs of recording non-payment and associated correspondence in chasing for outstanding amounts.
Late payment fees also apply to students in All Saints Green in any instances regarding non-payment of rent. Please ask Derwent Students for further details of this policy after your room has been allocated.
Late payment fees also apply to students in Crown Place in any instances regarding non-payment of rent. Please ask Collegiate for further details of this policy after your room has been allocated.
In order for us to be able to be able to fulfil our accommodation guarantee to you we may need to share your personal data with either Derwent Students or Collegiate. These are the companies that operate All Saints Green and Crown Place. We will need to share your details with them if you are offered a room in one of these buildings.
If you do not agree to your data being shared in this way, Norwich University of the Arts will not be able to allocate you a room in All Saints Green or Crown Place as the buildings are managed by Derwent Students and Collegiate. They will require these details to process your application. This may affect our ability to provide you with a room and will mean that we may not be able to guarantee you accommodation even if you apply before the deadline.
*If we need to disclose any medical or disability information to Derwent Students or Collegiate we will discuss this with you first. If you do not hear from us, it means that we have not disclosed your medical or disability information to Derwent Students or Collegiate. If you then want to make Derwent Students or Collegiate aware of your medical or disability information you will need to do so via their own application form/portal which you will be sent if you are allocated a room in All Saints Green or Crown Place.
