Interchange Week
Through a series of creative workshops and events, Interchange Week gives students the chance to collaborate across disciplines and find new ways of thinking, doing and making.
Interchange is just one of the things that makes studying at Norwich so special.
Each Interchange Week, a series of creative activities, events and workshops are held across our campus. Open to all students – from across undergraduate and postgraduate study, year groups and courses – Interchange offers you the chance to explore new skills, take on new challenges and meet future collaborators.
What kinds of activities happen during Interchange Week?
Interchange features workshops and events covering a whole range of skills and ideas. Previous Interchange Weeks have featured sessions on:
- Circuit-bending and hardware hacking
- Character design
- Learning to machine knit
- Building your own self-driving bot
- Stop motion using natural materials
- Marketing your work effectively in the creative industry
By the end of the week, you’ll have had the chance to explore new skills and creative opportunities across a range of disciplines outside your course.

“Interchange Week sums up Norwich’s interdisciplinary ethos brilliantly. I was able to work with Architecture, Interior Design and Fine Art students in my workshop.”
Lucy Perry, MA Textile Design
When does Interchange Week happen?
Interchange week happens twice in the academic year:
- In the autumn term (around November)
- In the spring term (around February)
Who runs the activities?
Interchange workshops and events are led by our academics and technicians, as well as visiting lecturers.
There’s also an opportunity for students to lead sessions. You might have expertise in a process or technique you’d like to share, a global challenge you’re passionate about solving, or you could facilitate an activity such as a walk in nature or drawing session.
We’ll provide:
- Training on how to design and lead a teaching session
- Support with resources and finding the right space for your event to take place.
