The Code of Ethics for Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Students provides guidelines on the standards of academic conduct required by all students engaged in creative practice, professional practice and research at Norwich University of the Arts.
The Code also explains how to present to the University for consideration any ethical aspects of your work using the two-stage process below:
All Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students intending to undertake a project or research must complete the Ethics Checklist.
The checklist will help students identify whether their project or research requires a formal application for ethical approval from the University before it can go ahead.
Once completed, students must discuss the completed Checklist with their Unit Leader or Course Leader. The course team will advise on whether the student’s project or research will require an application to the ethical approval panel. They will also note any health and safety or risk assessment requirements in relation to the project/research.
If students answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions on the Ethics Checklist they will need to fill in the Ethics Approval Form
Once complete, students should email their Ethics Approval Application Form and any supporting documentation to ltsc@norwichuni.ac.uk.
Supporting Documentation may include but is not limited to:
Once a student submits an Ethics Approval Form, the project or research will go through a decision process outlined here which will confirm one of four outcomes.
Please note that it can take up to three weeks for a response to be confirmed by the Ethics Approval Panel.
