Norwich graduate nominated for BAFTA
Ella Glendining’s film ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ has been nominated in the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer category.
‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ is a feature documentary about Ella’s global search for other people with the same rare disability as her. The search takes her from Norwich to Brighton and America, and is about finding your community and learning to love yourself for who you are.
Recognition from BAFTA follows a string of successes for ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ After debuting at Sundance Film Festival, it has been selected for festivals all across the world, including South by Southwest Festival in Texas and Sheffield International Documentary Festival. Ella herself was awarded the BFI and Chanel Filmmaker Award and was named as one of the UK talents in the BAFTA Breakthrough 2023.
Ella graduated from BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production in 2017, and has since become an acclaimed writer and director. After graduating she produced and directed a string of short films, working with institutions like Channel 4 and the British Film Institute.
