BA (Hons) Graphic Design graduate Amelia Cherrill has been named YCN Student of the Year, an award that is won by only one student in the UK, for her colourful paper driven campaign for Dalston’s Cola.
The brief set by YCN challenged students across the country to create a campaign promoting the soda brand to a new audience.
Amelia’s colourful response to the brief was inspired by Dalston’s musical roots and London’s East End, and set the campaign at Brick Lane’s Sunday Street Market.
She re-imagined the original Dalston’s logo to complement the music campaign, and produced a series of vinyl sleeves using Fedrigoni paper that folded out to become a working record player. Each sleeve was designed using hand lettered typography to reflect the genre of the band, and was paired with a new design and flavour of Dalston’s soda.
Amelia’s work was shown as part of an exhibition hosted by YCN celebrating all students commended in the YCN Student Awards. She was presented with a YCN concrete bar by Pentagram partner Astrid Stavro.
