Graduates create limited edition collection for John Lewis
Three BA (Hons) Fashion graduates have seen their designs hit stores nationwide as NUA launches an exclusive collaboration with John Lewis’s fashion line Kin. The three 2016 graduates Daina Ecaite, Alice Potts and Yee Ki Ng collaborated with the Kin design team whilst studying at NUA to create garments for the AW16 collection which takes its inspiration from Brutalist architecture, urban monochromatic prints and dramatic silhouettes. The 11 piece limited edition collection entitled Urban Poetry launches online and across six stores in the UK including Oxford Street and Peter Jones branches in London, Leeds and Liverpool.
NUA Fashion Course Leader Sue Chowles explains about the collaborative project, “Following our Creative Skillset Tick and accreditation, I was approached by Iain Ewing, Head of Womenswear Design and Helen Prior, Senior Womenswear Designer at John Lewis to work on a live’ project in collaboration with the Kin design team. The ‘live’ project has been a wonderful opportunity for the students to experience and be actively involved with the entire creative process from initial designs on the drawing board to final model fittings at head office.”
