Lockdowns + Landscapes: an exhibition by BA (Hons) Architecture Lecturer, Will Jefferies
Will, who lectures on BA (Hons) Architecture, will be exhibiting a series of paintings produced during the UK lockdown at the Hornsey Library in London.
Will is holding his first solo show at The Original Gallery, Hornsey Library. He will exhibit a series of 28 artworks displaying a series of landscapes from his travels and his home in South Tottenham and East Anglia.
Taking inspiration from his travels and artists Richard Diebenkorn and Léon Spillaert, Will’s practice explores urban and rural landscapes and the contrast between ‘natural’ and ‘made’.
“During my travels I found making art again a great way to look at and record my surroundings. A watercolour or drawing could capture more of the essence of a place than the simple reportage of photography,” said Will.
“My work tries to reveal the essence and contradictions within these environments to show them in a new way.”
Earlier this year, Will produced a piece of artwork for the Shutter Galleries Project, depicting the wildlife around Walthamstow Wetlands.
The exhibition is open from 29 November – 11 December, Monday-Saturday 1-7pm.
