Norwich University of the Arts wins TIGA Innovative Teaching Award 2021

Norwich University of the Arts is delighted to have won the Innovative Teaching Award at the TIGA UK Games Education Awards 2021. The TIGA Education Committee looked for evidence over the period 2020 to 2021 of innovation and excellence in teaching undertaken by lecturers.

Course Leader for BA (Hons) Games Art & Design and BSc (Hons) Games Development, Mark Wickham, says:

“Competition, how to play a game or a system, and how to play to win, is dovetailed into the teaching and learning experience from the outset for students at Norwich University of the Arts. Throughout the course, students are asked to engage with studio style briefs, take part in game jams, and enter competitions where their work will be assessed by industry judges. It encourages the students to think about what it takes to answer a brief and deliver work of quality within a deadline. This runs in parallel with the academic grounding in art and design – and, indeed, one of the few universities to offer concept art as an option.”
