Thursday 18 April | 5.30 – 7.30pm

Rage against the Machine: consent and empowerment in the age of artificial reproduction

with Hannah-Louise Bett, Creative Technology Technician

So, AI seems to be here to stay in the creative industries – and its morality is up for debate. But what can we do to face up to the very real issues of consent and illegal data scraping that come with it? How do we influence the future of AI’s use cases?

This session takes a brief look at adversarial machine learning and introduces several tools available to creatives to protect their work against AI replication and/or promote ethical AI practices.

From using data poisoning to prevent art theft to opting out of OpenAI’s data sets, we’ll look at ways to place consent back at the heart of the discussion of AI. It’s not all doom and gloom though – there’ll also be time for a roundtable where we’ll discuss use cases of AI that empower communities, so bring along an example with you!
