Norwich University of the Arts has marked a historic milestone, with its first-ever appearance in the Guardian University Guide’s national rankings. The debut showcases the University’s growing national profile and its strength across a range of creative, technology, and business subjects.

Reflecting on the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Ofield-Kerr said:

“This is a proud milestone for Norwich University of the Arts. Our arrival at position 66 in the main Guardian University Guide, ahead of many universities in the region, and similar universities across the country, demonstrates our commitment to our students and reinforces our triple gold TEF rating.

“Over the past year, we’ve introduced a range of new courses including marketing, business, psychology, and computer science, expanding opportunities for our students and strengthening our inclusive approach. Today’s news also recognises the important role that specialist creative universities play within the national higher education landscape.”

The Guardian’s league table assesses institutions using key metrics: student satisfaction with courses, teaching and feedback (based on National Student Survey data), as well as student-staff ratio, spend per student, average entry tariff, continuation rate and graduate career success.

News of Norwich’s inclusion in the guide follows an exceptional period for the University, during which it secured a Triple TEF Gold rating, was named Arts University of the Year 2025, and rose 25 places in the Complete University Guide 2026.

The University has also been investing heavily in its student experience and infrastructure.

Phase Two of its Bank Plain redevelopment has officially opened, transforming the Grade II-listed building into a vibrant hub featuring a large student canteen, social workspace and upgraded Student Support facilities, underlining the university’s commitment to student wellbeing and community.

Alongside this, the Havers Road development is set to deliver one of higher education’s leading virtual production studios, together with state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces.

This major investment will expand opportunities in film, television, and immersive media, ensuring students gain hands-on experience with the cutting-edge technologies shaping the creative industries.
