Success for Film and Moving Image Production graduates at RTS East Awards
Three graduates from BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production have been awarded wins in the 2019 Royal Television Society (RTS) East Awards. The ceremony was held at Norwich University of the Arts, the educational partner for the 2019 East Awards, and hosted by television news presenters Becky Jago (ITV Anglia) and Stewart White (BBC Look East).
The RTS East Awards celebrates the best students, projects and leaders in their craft across the region in a wide range of categories.
Olivia Baldwin won the Student Comedy & Entertainment award for her film Act of Strange. The modern-day mockumentary explores the family dynamic and how we cope with those who are different to us.
“It is an important project as it is a light-hearted comment on family and relationships but also raises deeper issues of discrimination, fear of change, the unknown and judgement. “

Lucy Felce won the Student Short Form award for her film Awl Along. The piece explore the adult themes of old age, desperation and loneliness, but through the guise of a fairy-tale. The film was also nominated in the Student Craft: Editing and Student Craft: Production Design categories.
Joe Harrington’s film Stop at 60 picked up the award for Student Factual. Based on his own family history, the film aims to explore the complexities of mental health issues and help the audience to consider the steps they cantake within their own life to help someone dealing with similar issues.
