NUA Illustration lecturer Chris Gibbs' work for Radio Times

BA (Hons) Illustration lecturer Christopher Gibbs was commissioned by the Radio Times to create illustrations for the publications iconic Christmas issue based on the story ‘The Quiet House’ by author Susan Hill, who wrote the well-known horror ‘The Woman in Black’.

‘The Quiet House’ is a Christmas ghost tale about a barrister, whom after the death of his wife and subsequent breakdown, rented an old house, which was effectively an old orphanage, to escape to for Christmas.

The couple had no children, but the barrister longed for them. The barrister started to see children in his dreams, and eventually see them appearing round the house.

Chris created each illustration digitally using a variety of textures, manipulated imagery and graphics, combined with rich, wintery colours.
