NUA Games Art & Design course wins accreditation by industry body, TIGA
“Inspiring lecturers and great facilities” and “an impressive track record of getting students into work in the games industry” have led to prestigious TIGA Accreditation for NUA’s BA Games Art & Design course.
TIGA Accreditation recognises the close connections of the course with the industry – in both teaching practice and the employment prospects for graduates.
Accreditation follows NUA being named the UK’s “Best Educational Institution” at the 2017 TIGA Awards in November.
Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA said the accreditation team had found evidence of “exceptional good practice” when they visited NUA.
“We saw enthusiastic students, inspiring lecturers and great facilities,” Dr Wilson said. “The course has a 60:40 male/female ratio and has an impressive track record of getting students into work in the games industry. No wonder the University won ‘Best Educational Institution’ at this year’s TIGA Games Industry Awards. Norwich University of the Art’s BA (Hons) Games Art and Design course is helping to supply the games industry with well-educated graduates.”
Karl Hilton, Studio Director at Sumo Digital and a member of the accreditation team, added: “The course offers an excellent mix of subjects working in realistic scenarios to provide graduates with a comprehensive and well-rounded programme that will prepare them well for a career in the video games industry. The roster of lecturers, both permanent and visiting, offers a broad depth of experience and knowledge and clearly adds significant value to the students learning experience. Overall, this was an impressive course and I look forward to seeing it develop further in the future.”
