Mindful slow-stitch Textile Practice
Tuesday 5 July | 4.30 – 5.30pm
This session is relevant for all of us in education where increasingly we are coping with students suffering from stress and anxiety, which can have a negative impact on academic practice. Slow Stitch is about adopting a less-is-more approach, valuing quality over quantity, and bringing a meaningful and thoughtful approach to making.
This workshop looks at a way of using simple techniques and reused and re-invented materials to help students slow down and spend time in conversation and reflection, enabling them to build a stronger sense of resilience.
Previous Workshops
Being a Multi-Specialist in the Creative Industries
Tuesday 21 June | 4.30 – 5.30pm
Join Akin Akinsiku, BAFTA award-winning Creative Director, for this inspirational talk on why we should encourage our students to be ambitious multi-specialists, who can harness their creativity to create change in the world around us.
Akin will offer tips on how you can best prepare your students to widen their horizons beyond the course specific subject they study. Akin will look at how being a multi-specialist enabled his own success, as an NUA BA Graphic Design graduate with over twenty years of experience in television and advertising, working for organisations such as Nickelodeon and Sky.
Making Comics
Thursday 23 June | 4.30 – 5.30pm
In this workshop, we will explore what goes into making a comic book. You will try your hand at a bit of creative writing, create a dummy book, and adapt your writing into a visual narrative. If there is time you will have a chance to produce an idea for a cover design.
Led by BA Illustration Lecturer Christian Peterson.
Do / Make / Think
