Why study at Norwich University of the Arts
Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) has established itself in arts, design, architecture, and media education for more than 175 years. BA Architecture student Chris Briggs gives us his main reasons to study an undergraduate degree at NUA.
Discover our coursesThe campus and facilities
Whenever I’m on campus I feel so inspired and creative thanks to the amazing facilities. A blank canvas designed to let our creativity fly. At the 3D Workshop you can make anything out of whatever material you want. NUA offers the latest industry standard equipment across the campus in studio spaces and in the MRC (Media Resource Centre).
The city
Norwich is ranked as one of the safest and happiest cities in the UK. The city is full of beautiful and inspiring architecture which can all be admired from atop of Kett’s Heights (One of my favourite places in the city). Just a short walk from campus and my favourite place to go for lunch is the market, which offers delicious food from all across the world at student friendly prices.
Careers support
The careers team at NUA is incredible. They offer us a range of workshops and tutorials to help us prepare our CV and portfolio for after graduation. When I applied for work experience in the summer between my second and third years, the careers team gave me a lot of advice on improving my CV which helped me to get some experience in a London architecture office. In my third year we are going to have mock interviews with guests from the industry. There are even studio spaces available for graduates to use who want to start their own business or do freelance work. And the most amazing thing is that this support is available to both past and present students.
“94% of our graduates are in employment or further education within six months of graduating.”

Industry connections
NUA has many industry connections which help inform the briefs of each course, keeping the teaching up to date with the latest industry standards. The connections from the tutors on my course have enriched my degree with multiple opportunities to hold exhibitions as well as countless guest lectures from some of the most sought after minds all over the world. In my third year we have had a range of projects with live industry briefs, designing for actual clients which has been a great experience!
