Animation graduate wins internship at Oscar-winning Aardman
BA (Hons) Animation graduate Kaitlin Folland has stepped from NUA to the Oscar-winning world of Aardman Animations after winning an internship.
Kaitlin, who graduated in 2018, was one of six students nationwide to be picked for the Aardman internship. She will spend the start of her summer working at the renowned studios in Bristol on the forthcoming Shaun the Sheep 2 film.
Aardman has been nominated for 10 Oscars – winning four – over the last four decades with well-loved work like Wallace and Gromit, Creature Comforts, Chicken Run, and the original Shaun the Sheep film and television series.
Kaitlin, 22, and a specialist in stop motion animation, said she was “ecstatic” to win the internship after submitting her showreel.
“I love the films and follow what they produce. I cannot wait to learn from them and get involved with the production,” she said.
Course Leader Peter Martin said the quality of Kaitlin’s work shone through – particularly how she captured character performance. Winning the internship was a “great achievement”, he said.
