BA Architecture lecturer Will Jefferies commissioned for Shutter Gallery project

Will Jefferies, BA (Hons) Architecture lecturer, was commissioned to paint a mural on shopfront shutters in Tottenham, as part of the Shutter Gallery Project.

Will is one of 12 local artists assigned a shopfront shutter, to make a design for an artwork installation.

“The work abstracts the profiles of flying geese into a pattern inspired by the adjacent Walthamstow Wetlands and nature reserve” said Will.

“You can see the shapes and colours of the geese compliment and work with the existing shop front and fascia of Capital Tyres, which are painted a bright blue and yellow.”

Will was commissioned for this project in the summer of 2020, and completed it in January 2021.

The Shutter Project is sponsored by Haringey Council. It aims to support artists and high street shops during the pandemic, and to encourage urban regeneration and renewal.
