Fashion student wins competition to design official BBC Children in Need t-shirt
BA (Hons) Fashion student Megan Grinham has been unveiled as winner of this year’s competition to design the official T-shirt for BBC Children in Need’s 2019 fundraising campaign.
Megan’s design was picked from hundreds of entries from students around the country to the competition, which was organised by Graduate Fashion Foundation, the charity behind Graduate Fashion Week, the world’s largest showcase of BA talent. Originally from Colchester and now in her final year at NUA, Megan will now work with the team at George at Asda to refine her design ready to go into production.
“We’re so pleased to be working alongside both BBC Children In Need and Graduate Fashion Foundation again this year, and continuing to have the opportunity to work with fantastic new talent such as Megan. Both charities hold a close place in our heart and we look forward to working with them both as we move forward. We’re also thrilled to be home of the official BBC Children in need t-shirt.”
Estella Arroyo, Senior Design Manager at George
The George at Asda and Graduate Fashion Foundation teams made a surprise trip to our fashion studios to break the news – along with BBC Children in Need’s Pudsey Bear.
But Megan’s winning design will remain a closely guarded secret until it is officially unveiled later this year and goes on sale in Asda stores around the country, with proceeds from the sale of the T-shirt benefitting BBC Children in Need.
Megan’s prize for creating the winning design will include: the T-shirt being used throughout BBC Children in Need’s 2019 campaign; the T-shirt being sold across Asda stores nationwide, as well as online; a two week paid internship at George’s Head Office; an invitation to attend a BBC Children in Need photoshoot and the Appeal Show in November; as well as the opportunity for her official design to be featured at Graduate Fashion Week Gala Show on June 5 2019.
“George has been a partner of BBC Children in Need now for many years and has raised millions of pounds to help make a positive difference to disadvantaged children and young people’s lives across the UK. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to work on this fantastic project with George and the Graduate Fashion Foundation to create our official T-shirt for 2019. Congratulations to Megan, who will see her T-shirt design featured throughout our fundraising campaign later this year! “
