The Women in Games Global Game Awards seek to recognise outstanding individuals and companies from all over the gaming world and are based on nominations. The 2020 awards saw final year BA (Hons) Games Art and Design student Lucy Zini and second year student Tiril Schjerven selected as winners in the Women in Games Student Portfolio Award category.

Tiril comments about her work, “I have a strong passion for character design and concept art. I spent the summer improving my portfolio and utilising what I’ve been taught in my first year. I am very honoured by the award, and it definitely made my week!”. Check out more of Tiril’s work on her Instagram.

Lucy specialises in Concept Art and tends to focus on natural environments, though plans on developing her characters and urban environments throughout her final year of study.

She says of her landscapes, “The first image is a concept of a fantasy alien planet I created as I wanted some practice and was exploring ways of developing my work. The second image is a study of an abandoned church I found whilst exploring a village in Norfolk. I really loved the way there was a tree growing in the centre of it!”.
