Graphic Communication student wins Nic Hughes Travel Prize 2019
BA (Hons) Graphic Communication student Kirsty McKinlay wins the annual Nic Hughes Travel Prize
The Nic Hughes Travel prize is offered in memory of former BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Lecturer, Nic Hughes, whose family kindly left a legacy in order to fund a £500 travel bursary.
The prize is awarded to an eligible second year Graphic Communication student who has shown notable improvement and progression since their first year of study. Nic was a great believer in travel enhancing creativity, so the scholarship is aimed at giving a student the opportunity to travel to a new destination of their choice.
Kirsty McKinlay submitted a strong application to the judging panel, which consisted of Professor Hilary Carlisle (Dean of Design & Architecture) and Martin Schooley (Graphics Course Leader).
“The most beneficial part of this whole opportunity was the ability to experience a new culture. I have gained a new thirst for exploring new aspects of design and grown an even bigger appreciation of the practice that I hope to one day have a career in.”
