BA (Hons) Illustration graduate Sophie Kent has been highly commended in the annual Carmelite Prize, ran by Hachette Childrens Group.

The brief tasked students across the country to create illustrations for children’s book ‘One and Only’, written by author Jeanne Willis.

‘One and Only’ is a story about a lonely bird of paradise, who longed for friends of his own, but struggled to make any. However, one day a little bird came along and changed his luck.

Sophie, who graduated in 2020, particularly enjoys illustrating for important causes such as mental health and environmental issues.

She has a keen interest in producing work aimed towards children and social media campaigns.

You can keep up-to-date with her work on her Instagram.
