MA Fine Art student exhibits work at The Cut

MA Fine Art student Johann Don-Daniel will be exhibiting a collection of work at The Cut in Halesworth.

Johann along with nine other local artists were invited for online interviews and live streamings of their studios as part of an Arts Council England funded project to develop The Cut Digital Archive.

Can you tell us about your work with The Cut?

The Cut Digital Archive was created to database and document exhibitions held at the venue.

What was your experience working on this project during the pandemic?

Creating work for the show has been anything but easy as time and balancing life, family, work, music, and art has taken some scheduling. The recourses at NUA have been a massive lift in the right direction as has the support I have received from The Cut.

Where did the inspiration for your work in this project come from?

My research is based on ideas that look at interactions with media, stereotypes, portraiture, fashion and narrative. The work will explore gender, race and perception.

What can we expect to see in this exhibition?

The show will present allegorical paintings which are figurative: themes shown through colour, shape, and line. I will also show videos and sculptures which are satellites to the paintings.

Johann Don-Daniel will be exhibiting his work at The Cut from 18 January to 26 February 2022.
