Norfolk Contemporary Art Society Prize 2021
Three BA Fine Art graduates awarded at prize-giving event for this year’s Norfolk Contemporary Art Society Prize
Congratulations to BA (Hons) Fine Art 2021 graduates Tara Mayo, Rebecca Foster-Clarke and Ellen Sibley who were awarded in the annual Norfolk Contemporary Art Society (NCAS) Prize.
The prize, worth £500, is given by trustees of NCAS each year and is awarded to a graduating BA Fine Art student who has excelled in their final year of study and demonstrated outstanding work in their final exhibition.
Having viewed student work on the NUA Graduate Showcase and in the Fine Art 2021 course publication, the NCAS Committee selected Tara Mayo as the 2021 prize-winner. The panel were impressed with Tara’s execution of ideas and her exploration of issues of identity, dissociation, and the outsider.
“I feel extremely grateful for getting a prize, especially for a show that was really significant to me. I met so many people from NCAS at the ceremony who have helped me feel more supported by the artistic community around Norwich. I am really looking forward to making works as a graduate, to explore new techniques, and to show my work somewhere soon.” – Tara Mayo
Special mention must go to Rebecca Foster-Clarke and Ellen Sibley whose work was highly commended by the Committee.
The awarded students were presented with their certificates by Chris Mardell, NCAS Chair at a prize-giving event attended by other members of the NCAS Committee and Norwich University of the Arts staff.
“We would like to praise the quality of work produced by NUA students in a difficult year of study, with covid restrictions meaning limited access to workshops. It is clear students have shown perseverance and determination.” – Chris Mardell, NCAS Chair
