NUA graduate’s work selected for three film festivals

A short documentary by BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production graduate Laura Wadha was shortlisted for three film festivals. Laura’s film ‘Flight’ follows the story of her two cousins’ journey from Syria to Europe.

It was shown at the Aesthetica Film Festival in York, Norwich Film Festival in 2017 and the London Short Film Festival in January 2018.

Laura, who graduated in 2017, said: “I have been working on this short documentary for the past four years and the process has been both rewarding and difficult. When I began developing the film, my main goal was to make something that would show a different perspective of Syria. I wanted to generate empathy for my family and a place which has been so widely covered in the media.” The trailer for ‘Flight’ is available to watch online.
