Students recruited by Samaritans after design project was spotted
The students created an advertising campaign for a subject they felt was under-exposed.
BA (Hons) Graphic Communication students Joe Bamford and Gemma Bonner’s collaborative project was spotted by charity Samaritans at their end of year show.
The students were tasked with creating a campaign about a subject they felt passionate about, and that they felt did not currently have the exposure it deserved.
Joe and Gemma created a campaign called ‘Hidden Me’, highlighting the anonymity aspect of getting in touch with the Samaritans. The final project involves series of poster designs that emphasise the work the Samaritans do to raise awareness of mental health issues, and to promote the confidential support available from the charity.
After being spotted, Joe and Gemma were recruited by the charity and now volunteer as fully-fledged Samaritans alongside their second year studies.
