Student Transfer Arrangements

The following information explains the University’s student transfer arrangements.

A transfer can happen where:

  • a student wishes to transfer into a course at the University from another institution; or
  • a student wishes to transfer between courses at the University; or
  • a taught postgraduate student wishes to transfer between full-time and part-time study; or
  • a student wishes to transfer out of a course at the University to another institution.

Transferring into a course at the University from another institution

If you have started a course at another institution, you can apply to transfer to a course at the University.  You will need to apply through UCAS and your application will be assessed through our normal application procedures.

Information on how to apply is available on the relevant How to Apply pages:

Applications for transfers to the University will normally only be considered for the start of the following academic year. If you have already completed credit on your existing course, you may be allowed to enter at an alternative entry point. This is known as Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL).

Further information on transferring in to one of our courses is available in Section B of the Student Regulations and Procedures, Courses at Norwich University of the Arts: Getting a place, changing courses and withdrawing. Information about Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) is available in the Norwich University of the Arts Accreditation of Prior Learning Policy and Procedures. These documents are published on the How to Apply pages.

Please note: Applicants seeking direct entry to Year 2 (Level 5) of the BA (Hons) Architecture course will only be considered if they are completing, or have completed, previous study on an Architecture course with ARB Part 1 prescription. The University will not consider direct entry to Year 3 (Level 6) of the BA (Hons) Architecture course.

Transferring between courses at the University after you have enrolled

You can apply to change courses at the University after you have enrolled, but your transfer will need to be agreed by the Course Leaders on the course you plan to leave and on the course you’d like to join. These transfers are also dependent on places being available on the course that you want to transfer to.  Please be aware that you must have completed and passed all units you have attempted up to the point at which you apply to transfer.

In courses where a common first year is shared between two or more courses, you will be given an opportunity to transfer to your preferred course at the end of Year 1.

Information about transferring between courses is available in Section B of the Student Regulations and Procedures, Courses at Norwich University of the Arts: Getting a place, changing courses and withdrawing, published on the How to Apply pages.

Transferring between full-time and part-time study (taught postgraduate students only)

If you are a taught postgraduate student, you can apply to transfer between full-time and part-time study on your current course. You should discuss this with the Course Leader Taught Postgraduate and complete the relevant transfer form.

Transferring from the University to another institution

If you are enrolled on a course at the University and you wish to transfer to a course at another institution, you will need to withdraw from the University by following our withdrawal process. You will need to apply to your new institution and follow the relevant admissions process. Entry to your new course will be a decision taken by your new institution.

If you have completed credit at the University we will issue you with a transcript confirming the number and level of credits awarded.

Your fee liability will depend on when you notify us of your withdrawal and is set out in the Undergraduate Student Fees Payment Policy or Postgraduate (Taught) Fees Payment Policy. Find out more on the Admissions Policies and Procedures page.
