2019 Jennifer Davey Memorial Award for Fine Art
BA (Hons) Fine Art student Aurelia Coster wins Jennifer Davey Memorial Award for Fine Art 2019.
The Jennifer Davey Memorial Award for Fine Art is offered by Brian Davey in memory of his late wife Jennifer Davey, who had a lifelong passion for art. The award is offered to BA (Hons) Fine Art students in their final year of study.
This year’s prize has been awarded to Aurelia Coster.
“The applicants for this award were all of a high standard but when I first saw Aurelia’s work in a photograph, it had that ‘something’ and I had to see it full size as the dimensions indicated a much larger piece of work. Having had the opportunity to see this work mounted, I was very impressed by how she managed to visualise her ideas on such a large canvas. I come from a 3D background and I appreciated the ability she showed in presenting a 3D visual representation, using a 2D format, of abstract forms and shapes that worked so well together. Her use of tones and shade were also impressive. Well done!”
