Student Cocktails in Norwich

As a student in Norwich there’s no shortage of things to do and places to explore.

But when the sun sets and the coursework is done, what better way to unwind than by indulging in a few cocktails?

1. The Drawing Rooms

A nighttime street scene with a brightly lit building on the left featuring neon blue lights and a sign that reads "The Drawing Rooms." On the right, people walk past a warmly lit café or restaurant. The street is paved and lined with buildings.

Found nestled amongst The Lanes, the heart of independent Norwich, The Drawing Rooms is a stylish and cosy bar for all occasions. The interior is Art Deco inspired, with sweeping arches and clean lines illuminated by warm yellow lighting and rich colour scheme. Their menu offers a great selection, and they have cocktail deals on offer every day of the week.

2. Gonzo’s Tea Room

A Norwich cult classic, Gonzo’s Tea Room is a quirky and colourful haven for cocktail enthusiasts. Literally a stone’s throw from the University, step inside and you’ll be greeted by retro décor and cosy booths. They offer a range of classic concoctions along side a range of more innovative creations if you’re feeling adventurous. And with regular live music and a laid-back atmosphere, Gonzo’s is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day in the studio.

3. The Ten Bells

A street view of The Ten Bells pub, housed in a historic brick building with white upper floors. The pub has large windows, a black sign with its name, and colorful stools outside the entrance. There are trees and neighboring buildings visible in the background.

Part pub, part cocktail bar, The Ten Bells has been a staple of the Norwich pub scene for many years. It offers a cosy and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of booths and benches to drink in peace. They have a rotating selection of cask beers and ales and a creative menu of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. No mention of The Ten Bells would be complete without mention of FUP Burger, who serve some of the most mouth-watering burgers in Norwich.

4. TipsyJar

First established as a cocktail delivery service, shipping a jar of boozy goodness straight to your door, TipsyJar is now one of the cornerstones of Norwich’s cocktail scene. Their ever-changing menu is designed in house using homemade syrups, infusions and local ingredients to suit all-comers. They even have a page of their menu dedicated to espresso martinis! If alcohol isn’t your thing, they also have a carefully created selection of no/low alcohol cocktails.

5. Mr. Postles’ Apothecary

A red brick building with two green doors. The right side has a sign reading "Mr Postles' Apothecary" above a door with large glass panels. The left side is a wooden door under an arched stone frame with a small rectangular window above.

Always a favourite on a night out, Mr. Postles’ is a fun and vibrant cocktail bar right around the corner from Norwich Uni. Their 19th Century theming is designed to match the potions and elixirs prescribed over the counter. Expect steaming drinks and elaborate glasses aplenty from across their cocktail menu. They host live music every week, and serve a good range of food; well worth a visit!
